Frequently Asked Questions
How would you describe your style of wedding photography?
I guess you would say my style is creative, reportage.
I love photographing those wonderful candid moments and capturing
the spirit of this joyful and emotion packed day! To me photography
is about being yourself, being spontaneous and above all enjoyable!
How long do you spend with us on the day?
My assistant and I photograph the pre-wedding preparations
including getting ready shots right through until you sit down for
your Wedding Breakfast or buffet meal. If the speeches are given
before the meal, we photograph those too. If you would like me to
photograph during the evening up to and including the first dance,
then there is an additional fee.
Do you visit the venue beforehand?
We'll meet about a month before the wedding at the
ceremony venue and where the reception is being held. We'll go over
the finer details including timings and names of key people in the
wedding party. It gives me a chance to catch up with your final
arrangements and check out the venue. This pre-wedding consultation
is all part of our service.
Can we have some photographs in black & white?
Yes, we shoot on digital cameras and always include
a selection of images in black and white for your Preview Album.
Any pictures can be changed back to colour or vice versa for your
wedding album or prints.
Do you retouch the pictures?
I look at all the pictures we take during the wedding
and if I feel the image can be improved by a little brightening
and general 'cleaning-up' then I will do that. All images chosen
for the album and print orders are checked again and digitally enhanced.
What camera do you use?
I have a Canon 5D Mark II and a Canon 5D as my ‘back-up’ camera. As for lenses, I have lots of them!
Can we have some photographs in black & white or sepia?
All our pictures are shot in colour and thanks to Adobe Lightroom© any effect can be applied in post production
including changing an image to black and white or giving it a vintage look. If you particularly like a certain effect,
please let me know so I can apply it to some of your pictures.
Do you retouch the pictures you take?
I look at all the pictures and any that haven’t ‘worked’ for whatever reason, aren’t used. (Any photographer who
says they don’t ditch any pictures is telling a fib!). All the pictures we present to you have been digitally enhanced in post production.
This is usual practice for a professional photographer and includes increasing the contrast and colour correcting.
Images burnt onto a DVD or for your album or print orders are checked again and any unwanted signs, telegraph wires etc are removed.
Do you have insurance cover?
I have public liability insurance. I also have professional indemnity insurance and as I employ assistants, I have employer’s liability too.
Do you belong to a professional association?
I am an Associate member of the British Institute of Professional Photography also I was awarded Craftsman status in 2011
with The Guild of Wedding Photographers. A great honour.
