I started my business as a wedding photographer after graduating
from Uni in 2003. This was just the beginning of the digital revolution
and my goodness what a roller coaster of a ride it was. So many
new techniques to learn, huge post production programs to fathom
and lots of darkroom stuff to throw away! It was a massive learning
curve to go from film to digital but I got there through reading
books, practising like mad and learning from the best in our business
by going on as many training courses as I could afford. It wasn't
easy but I knew if I was going to be a successful wedding photographer
I needed to learn about digital photography and learn it fast.
I'm glad to say it paid off. I'm still learning, still discovering
and constantly trying out new techniques. Cameras these days are
amazing but it's not just about the camera you use, it's about
being creative, understanding what makes a picture great also
knowing when to take a picture and a whole lot of other things
...
Now everyone it seems has a digital camera including every
wedding guest from the page boy through to the grandparents and
you know, it doesn't worry me at all. As an experienced photographer
I know I'm shooting stunning, high quality images. Nothing gives
me more of a buzz than when I've just captured something very
special and Uncle Fred with his compact camera turns to me and
says 'You got that did you, I just missed it". And that's the
difference. When the great photojournalist Eve Arnold was asked
"What's the secret in getting good photographs?" She replied,
"Making yourself invisible". It's not easy to do that at a wedding
but it is possible at times and I get some great shots that way.
And finally I just wanted to add that on the wedding day there
are usually two of us, myself and one of my trained assistants
working away. Of course if you feel you don't need a second photographer
that's fine and the overall price will be reduced. If you click
onto my web site you will see details of the range of Collections
I offer including a low cost package for smaller wedding parties.
With budgets tight for a lot of couples, I'm always happy to quote
for a bespoke package so when you contact me don't be afraid to
ask. Thank you again for visiting my web site, I look forward
to hearing from you and a special thank you if you've managed
to get to the end of this. I've always loved writing as well as
taking pictures!
